Welcome!

This website hosts introductory material for teaching biologists how to interact with data including: use of the Unix shell, creating scripts, using genomics tools at the command-line, and creating automated genomics scripts. In the Fall of 2020, due to the COVID pandemic, this course was changed to be offered as an online/hybrid university course where the students read material and they come to VIRTUAL class (using ZOOM) to work through lecture materials in a hands-on workshop-style (active learning) environment.

This course is open-source: meaning other instructors are welcome to modify and use the material for your own courses. It’s important to acknowledge those who have contributed to the development of this course (see Acknowledgments, README, and About pages). We/they strongly encourage collaborative development and contributions by other instructors, with the hopes that this will lead to better training and resources for everyone.
